Complete closure of the L22 at the Werftdreieck
From Friday, July 24 (10:00 p.m.) through Friday, July 31 (11:59 p.m.), the L22 will be completely closed at the intersection of Lübecker Straße and Doberaner Straße. This is due to track and civil engineering work in the Werftdreieck area. As part of this project, the existing track crossing will be removed and a new one constructed.
To sustainably renew the heavily used tram tracks on the L22, we are relying on modern and highly efficient construction technology—all within a tight timeframe. The work will utilize a track system featuring so-called track support slabs, which were already used last August at the L22/Holzhalbinsel intersection. These prefabricated concrete elements integrate the road and the tracks into a single unit. The rails are precisely embedded into the slabs and secured using a special grouting process. This saves time because no concrete needs to cure on site—and it enables significantly faster completion within one week.

Nighttime Construction Work
Work on the renovation of the railroad crossing on Lübecker Straße is being carried out around the clock. This allows us to minimize the duration of the closure. We have received the necessary authorization from the Rostock Environmental Agency. We are making every effort to keep noise levels as low as possible and ask for your understanding regarding any inconvenience caused by construction noise.
Restrictions on Car and Bicycle Traffic
During the complete closure of the L22 in the Werftdreieck area, motorized private vehicles will not be able to pass through. The following streets are affected by the closure:
Access to Werftstraße from Lübecker Straße, Doberaner Straße, and Maßmannstraße is only possible via Max-Eyth-Straße. It is not possible to turn onto Doberaner Straße from Lübecker Straße. From Doberaner Straße, the only exit is toward Warnowufer – L22 (toward the city center).
The detours cover a wide area and are clearly signposted. In the vicinity of the construction site, the detour (U3) leads toward the city center via Karl-Marx-Straße, Dethardingstraße, and Parkstraße, and away from the city via Am Kanonsberg and Parkstraße.
A connection for cyclists remains in place. The signposted detour runs via Werftstraße, Max-Eyth-Straße, and Holbeinplatz. This allows cyclists to safely bypass the construction zone. In the vicinity of the construction site, follow the posted signs.
