Extensive construction work in the Werftdreieck area

Stand: 28.05.2026

This summer, a number of construction and infrastructure projects are taking place in Rostock in the Werftdreieck area – one of the key transport hubs in this Hanseatic and university city.

What at first glance looks like a multitude of simultaneous construction sites is in fact part of a closely coordinated overall project: several municipal companies and institutions are working together to lay the foundations for the future development of the neighbourhood and the urgently needed housing construction between Hamburger Straße and Werftstraße.

As part of this, key supply networks for water, gas, district heating and wastewater are being renewed and expanded, whilst the tram infrastructure is being modernised. This work is necessary to ensure that Rostock remains efficient, safe and sustainable in the long term. We are aware that the associated disruptions are having a noticeable impact on daily life – which makes it all the more important to communicate these measures transparently.
