What exactly is being built?

This summer, extensive construction work will take place in the Werftdreieck area around Hamburger Straße, Lübecker Straße (L22), Maßmannstraße, Werftstraße, Max-Eyth-Straße, Doberaner Straße and Am Kabutzenhof. The work is part of the preparatory measures for the residential development being built there. For public transport, this means that passengers should expect restrictions and changes to regular services until, it is anticipated, the end of August 2026.

The reason for these measures is extensive work on the infrastructure. In addition to the laying and renovation of water, gas and district heating pipes, a new tram track is being built between Max-Eyth-Straße and Doberaner Straße. This investment will strengthen the long-term capacity and reliability of the tram service at one of the city’s most important transport hubs.

The works are being carried out jointly by Stadtwerke Rostock AG, Nordwasser GmbH, Rostocker Straßenbahn AG and the Civil Engineering Office, and are closely coordinated. The aim is to minimise the impact on traffic – and in particular on public transport – as much as possible.
