Construction work on the Central Station tunnel
From 12 October (start of works) up to and including 25 October 2026, construction work at the main station will cause disruption to tram services.
Tram routes 2, 5 and 6 will be diverted. Routes 3 and 4 will be suspended. The “Stadthalle” stop will be closed without replacement. In addition, routes 22 and 23 will be extended from Hauptbahnhof Nord to Kröpeliner Tor.

Extension of lines 22 and 23
Buses on routes 22 and 23 run from the north side of the main station(Hauptbahnhof Nord), continuing on towards Kröpeliner Tor.

Towards Hauptbahnhof Nord
Die Busse fahren die Strecke zwischen Hauptbahnhof Nord und Kröpeliner Straße zweimal in Folge. Erst anschließend setzen sie ihre Fahrt auf der regulären Linienführung in Richtung Kassebohm und Riekdahl fort.
Bitte achten Sie an der Haltestelle auf die Zielanzeige des Busses.

Explanation of interchange points
To ensure a safe change and a smooth onward journey, please follow the signs for connections at Hauptbahnhof and Steintor.
To change to lines 22 and 23, use the Nord/City exit at the main station. The stops are located approximately 200 metres from the main station building.
To travel towards Steintor/City, use platform C in front of the station building.
To travel towards Kröpeliner Tor via Goetheplatz, use platform D opposite the main station. Use the traffic lights or the traffic island to cross the road.

Um in die Linien 22 und 23 umzusteigen, nutzen Sie den Ausgang „Nord/City“ am Hauptbahnhof. Die Haltestellen befinden sich etwa 200 Meter vom Hauptbahnhofsgebäude entfernt.
Für Fahrten in Richtung Steintor/City nutzen Sie den Bahnsteig C vor dem Bahnhofsgebäude.
Für Fahrten in Richtung Kröpeliner Tor über den Goetheplatz nutzen Sie den Bahnsteig D gegenüber dem Hauptbahnhof. Nutzen Sie die Ampel oder die Verkehrsinsel, um die Straße zu überqueren.

Accessibility of the main railway station
The main station remains easily accessible for everyone in Rostock. Check the options for your journey:
Take tram lines 1 or 5 to the Kröpeliner Tor stop and change to lines 22 or 23 (platform D).
You can also take the S-Bahn, changing at Marienehe or Holbeinplatz.
Take tram lines 1, 2 or 5 to the Steintor stop and change to lines 22 or 23 (platform C) to Hauptbahnhof Nord.
Take tram lines 2 and 6 to the Goetheplatz stop and change to bus lines 22 or 23 to Hauptbahnhof Nord.
You can also take bus lines 26 and 39 to Hauptbahnhof Süd.
Take tram lines 1 and 5 to Kröpeliner Tor, then change to lines 22 and 23 to Hauptbahnhof Nord.
Take bus line 25 to the Parkstraße stop, then change to the S-Bahn to Hauptbahnhof or to bus line 39 to Hauptbahnhof Süd.
Accessibility of the city centre
There will be changes to journeys into the city centre for the following districts:
TRAM lines 1, 2 and 5 serve all stops in the city centre.
TRAM Line 2 serves all stops in the city centre
TRAM Line 6 runs as far as Schröderplatz.
There are no significant changes to journeys into the city centre from any other parts of the city.
Background
The construction work involves work on the tunnel entrance on the north side of the station, as well as work on the crossing at the “Stadthalle” stop. As a result, there will be no tram services between the tunnels, or between Steintor, the main station and Stadthalle, during this period.
