New routes for bus services 22 and 23 in the station district
From 24 August 2026, the routes of bus services 22 and 23 will be adjusted. This follows a decision by the Rostock City Council to restrict bus traffic in the station district to tarmac-surfaced roads only.
In future, lines 22 and 23 will run via the Paulstraße and Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße stops to Hauptbahnhof Nord, except for the occasional journey to Puschkinplatz. The tram stops there will also be served. Please note: These bus stops are not accessible for passengers boarding or alighting. Passengers who require accessible boarding or alighting facilities can change to the tram at Steintor.
Thanks to the shorter route, journey times from Brinckmansdorf and Kassebohm to the main station are reduced by a few minutes. At the main station, the buses stop directly on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz, in front of the main entrance to the station.
Journeys to Pushkin Square will continue
From Monday to Friday between 6 am and 6 pm, a bus will continue to run once an hour to Puschkinplatz, so that both schoolchildren can get to their schools and apprentices can reach the Trades Training Centre.
These services do not stop at Paulstraße, Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße or Hauptbahnhof Nord. Passengers travelling to destinations along this section of the route can change to the tram at Steintor.
The revised route will initially remain in place until the end of the construction work on Herweghstraße.
Background
At its meeting on 10 June 2026, the City Council of the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock resolved that the routes of bus services 22 and 23 in the area around the railway station should be adjusted in order to minimise disruption to local residents.
